Questions

What is Backheel?

Backheel is a set of free daily football puzzles. Each one asks something different about the game — a player’s career path, the clubs two players share, a squad you have to name against the clock, a line-up you rebuild from memory. A new puzzle in every game arrives each day.

When do the daily puzzles reset?

At midnight UTC, every game at once. Everybody in the world gets the same puzzle on the same day, which is what makes a score worth pasting into a group chat.

Do I need an account?

No. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to install. Your streak and your history are kept in your own browser and never sent anywhere, which also means they do not follow you to another device.

Can I play older puzzles?

Yes. Every puzzle Backheel has ever set is in the archive, by game and by date. Archive rounds do not move your streak — a streak you could catch up on afterwards would not be measuring anything.

How many times a day can I play each game?

Once. Every game offers Easy, Medium and Hard, and finishing any one of them closes that game until the next reset. Picking a level is a choice about today rather than three separate rounds.

Which game should I start with?

Who Am I? is the one most people find easiest to pick up: a player’s clubs appear one at a time and you name them as soon as you can. Footy Grid and Football Bingo are the most forgiving of a wrong guess, since neither costs you anything for trying.
